About Dr. CooperLori A. Cooper, Ed.D.
Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership Wilkes University 84 W. South Street Wilkes-Barre, PA 18766 Cooper is a full-time faculty member with experience teaching Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students. Her background in teaching stems primarily from the early childhood and primary grades, as she taught in public schools, military childcare, and prekindergarten. She also served as an Early Childhood Specialist in a large Head Start program in overseeing teachers and programs that served young children and their families, specializing in the transition to Kindergarten and state funded programming. She is certified to teach in Texas, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and the Department of Defense schools. In addition to her classroom experience, Cooper has taught undergraduate courses in science, mathematics, and literacy methods, as well as courses in family and community collaboration and health and safety for young children. She has also supervised student teachers in various programs. Presently, she primarily teaches research and curriculum courses in the Master’s and Doctoral programs at Wilkes University. Cooper has been a proposal reviewer, discussant, and presenter for the Northeastern Educational Research Association and is collaborating with former students as well as faculty on research publications and presentations. Cooper presents regularly at the Pennsylvania Head Start Conference and the Early Childhood Summit on current early childhood education topics for practitioners. She has served as a Representative for the Council for Professional Recognition, helping beginning teachers to attain their Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. In addition to her work at Wilkes University, Cooper served on the board of the King’s College Early Learning Center, is the secretary for the school district band booster organization, and teaches young children in children’s church. Cooper holds a Master of Education degree in Early Childhood Education from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma as well as a Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. |
